Bio
Richard is the visionary Chairman of Innovation Village Baltimore, a multi-sector partnership anchored by the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Coppin State University, City of Baltimore, and State of Maryland to revitalize West Baltimore through economic inclusion, equitable access to opportunities, job creation, entrepreneurship, and small business. As Baltimore’s 1st innovation business district, it covers over 1200 acres of Baltimore’s culturally rich and historic neighborhoods, and prioritizes investing in both people and enterprise through economic inclusion.
Innovation Village has enlisted anchor institutions, corporate and high tech partners, and community organizations to work together in creating an inclusive, socio-economic ecosystem that revitalizes these neighborhoods into healthy, culturally and economically diverse communities. This includes safe recreational programs for children; inclusive economic and educational opportunities for residents and assistance for startups and small businesses provided through a network of business incubators and accelerators.
Prior to Innovation Village, Richard had been a senior leader with Deloitte, the world’s largest consulting firm, providing business and IT advisory expertise to global technology firms driving innovation and technology transfer from national security sector agencies.
Additionally, he has had a successful private equity track record of supporting startups. Richard was also an executive producer for Hollywood films and the Good Fellas of Baltimore, a FOX45 TV series pilot on social entrepreneurship. He also serves on the Mount Royal Community Development Corporation Board of Directors, official anchor of Innovation Village.
